Textures

Smooth:

This will generally be your Baby's first food experience. Typically it will be baby rice or pureed cooked food.

The common methods to puree cooked food are either with a food processor or hand held blender. If you don't have either of these tools, do not panic, cooked food can be mashed and pushed through a sieve for the same effect.

The overall consistency of Baby's food should be runny or like yoghurt. Let Baby decide!

Lumps:

Having enjoyed the smooth experience your Baby should now be ready to sample lumpy foods. Don't throw the blender away just yet, as it can still assist in preparing Baby's food at this stage. Mashing the cooked food with a fork is also an alternative. Baby food should now be a coarse lumpy consistency and alot harder to drop off Baby's spoon.
